STORYTELLING PHOTOGRAPHY FOR CALGARY COUPLES

Shelby and Patrick are the sweetest version of work crushes turned true lovers, who are now planning their romanic Calgary wedding for 2025. And individually? They are two of the sweetest people, and have the sort of relationship that just encompasses you in a feeling of warmth and sunshine.

When it came to planning their engagement photos in Calgary, we knew we wanted to make it an unforgettable experience for them; not just a run-of-the mill engagement photoshoot, but a romantic date night that told the story of their relationship.

I asked Shelby and Patrick how they wanted to feel when they looked back at their engagement photos in 10, 20, 30+ years. They told me that they wanted to see THEM, as they truly are. They wanted to be able to remember the night exploring Fish Creek Provincial Park for their Calgary engagement photos as a fun date night spent frolicking in fields, admiring the fall colours from their bikes, and sharing their favourite gin cocktails on a cozy picnic blanket.

When it comes to telling the story of your relationship, my biggest consideration is making sure you and your fiance feel COMFORTABLE. It’s more than just giving you the space to be confident and to not worry about how you look in your photos – it’s about giving you the space to let the uniqueness of your relationship shine through.

Storytelling engagement photography is about providing an environment where you and your partner can create your own experiences (like an afternoon bike rider or an adventurous Kanaskis hike) and memories, that will then be documented for you to remember just how special your relationship is. As your Calgary storytelling wedding photographer, I’m not here to pose you in uncomfortable positions that ‘look pretty’. My job is to direct you and encourage you to have actual MOMENTS together that look just as pretty, and that also come with real feelings associated with them.
